Patient and Family Advisory Council

As part of our 2017-2020 Strategic Plan, one of our goals it to ENGAGE our patients by developing a Patient and Family Advisory Council.

What is a Patient and Family Advisor?

A Patient and Family Advisor is a volunteer that gives a voice to the patient experience that will help the Centre for Family Medicine identify and address patient and family needs in all aspect of care such as improved access, ensure clear, respectful, timely communication, simplify processes and make it easier to navigate the healthcare system.

What is the role of the Patient and Family Advisor?

  • Share primary healthcare experience
  • Bring invaluable perspective to the planning and decision making table
  • Help create educational and information materials
  • Assist with special projects such as quality improvement and patient safety


  • You or a family member have been a patient of the Centre for Family Medicine for at least one year; and
  • Are 18 years or older
